Senior Accessibility Consultant
We are looking for a Senior Accessibility Consultant to join our remote team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that our company's products and services are fully accessible to people with disabilities. You must have a strong understanding of accessibility standards and best practices, as well as experience with accessibility testing approaches and processes. You will work closely with stakeholders, conduct workshops, and present accessibility-based decisions to ensure our products are accessible to everyone.
responsibilities
- Ensure that our company's products and services are fully accessible to people with disabilities, following accessibility standards and best practices
- Work closely with stakeholders, including designers, developers, and project managers, to ensure accessibility is considered throughout the software development lifecycle
- Conduct accessibility workshops and training sessions for team members to raise awareness and promote accessibility best practices
- Compile A11y Compliance Reports/VPATs and develop accessibility specifications for our products and services
- Present, explain, and advocate accessibility-based decisions to stakeholders, including senior management
- Participate in brainstorming and other idea-generating team sessions to identify new and innovative ways to improve accessibility
requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in accessibility testing and consulting
- Solid understanding of accessibility standards, including WCAG 2.1 and Section 508 compliance
- Experience in compiling A11y Compliance Reports/VPATs and developing accessibility specifications
- Expertise in A11y testing approaches and processes
- Experience in using A11y evaluation tools, such as JAWS, NVDA, and VoiceOver
- Familiarity with using screen readers and other assistive technologies
- Excellent consulting and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex accessibility concepts to stakeholders
- Fluency in English, with at least an Upper-Intermediate level competency for effective communication with the team and stakeholders

- Experience with accessibility processing of documents
- Familiarity with accessibility in HTML/CSS
